The Action on Armed Violence (AOAV) organization works to prevent and reduce the impact of armed violence, particularly in Burundi, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Western Sahara and Nigeria. As part of its activities in this part of Africa, AOAV 1) provides business-generating loans and grants to victims of armed violence; 2) conducts job training for disaffected youth; 3) runs major de-mining operations in the Sahara; and 4) helps monitor local levels of violence in cooperation with different governments and civil society.
