The Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI) is an independent research body that focuses on international environmental, energy and resource management politics. More precisely, its analysts concentrate on six areas of interest -- Global governance and sustainable development; the laws of the sea and marine affairs; biodiversity and bio-safety; polar and Russian politics; European energy and environmental politics; and Chinese energy and environmental politics.
