The African Institute of South Africa (AISA) is a statutory research organization that is part of South Africa's Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC). Its overarching aim is to produce research that supports sustainable political and socio-economic development in Africa. In more practical terms, that means AISA 1) collects, processes and disseminates information on African affairs; 2) facilitates actions that respond to collective needs; and 3) promotes awareness and consciousness of Africa at the grassroots level.
