Organizations and Resources Network

The Center for Defense Information (CDI) is a non-governmental research organization focusing on defense alternatives and international defense cooperation. It provides expert analysis on various components of US national security, international security and defense policy. CDI promotes wide-ranging discussion and debate on security issues such as nuclear weapons, space security, missile defense, small arms and military transformation.

Soon after its founding, CDI grew into a larger think tank called the World Security Institute (WSI), which was composed of retire military officers and academics dedicated to conducting analysis of US defense and security policies and publishing suggestions for reform. When the WSI closed its doors in 2012, CDI remained active and merged with the Project On Government Oversight (POGO).
