The Washington Institute for Near East Policy labors to 1) provide a "balanced and realistic" understanding of what constitutes America's interests in the Middle East, and 2) then promote policies that secure these interests. The Institute additionally works to help others understand and counter the destructive mix of Islamist extremism, terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
