The NATO Kosovo Force (NATO KFOR) is the international force responsible for ensuring safety and security in Kosovo. It began in the wake of the 1999 Kosovo crisis and is aimed at both promoting and maintaining peace and security within the region. KFOR is also involved with helping to demilitarize the area of Kosovo.
