The US Geological Survey (USGS) is a science agency for the Department of the Interior offering geological research results and publications on earthquakes, floods, human health issues, water resources and volcanoes. It aims to provide reliable scientific information to describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters; manage water, biological, energy and mineral resources; and enhance and protect people's quality of life.
