The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is an agency of the US Department of Justice that 1) integrates the Department's social and physical science activities 'under one roof', 2) performs cost-benefit evaluations of US criminal justice programs and technologies, and 3) leverages new and existing research partnerships to expand the reach of criminal justice research.
