The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) is an independent, nonpartisan and international nongovernmental organization that works to ensure the practical application of human rights in Commonwealth states. In turn, the more specific objectives of the CHRI are to promote 1) awareness of and adherence to the Harare Commonwealth Declaration, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other internationally recognized human rights instruments, and 2) domestic tools that ensure widespread respect for human rights in Commonwealth countries.
