The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (SEMA) is responsible for the following areas within the country -- civil protection, public safety, emergency management and civil defense. The agency fulfills its charter through education and training programs, formal regulations and supervisory functions, and cooperating closely with Swedish municipalities, county councils and the private sector.
