The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) is the main body responsible for implementing regulations and operating nuclear energy installations in Iran. Its main areas of activity and expertise consist in the design, construction and operation of the nuclear power plants; nuclear fuel cycle; the construction and operation of research reactors of both fission and fusion types; research activities aiming at the development of irradiation application in industries, agriculture and medical fields; and the monitoring of safely conducted nuclear activity in the country through the Iran Nuclear Regulatory Authority (INRA).
