The EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) is the largest civilian mission ever launched under the European Security and Defense Policy (ESDP). Its central aim is to assist and support Kosovo's authorities with the establishment of the rule of law, focusing on the police, judiciary and customs. EULEX is a technical mission which will monitor, mentor and advise whilse retaining a number of limited executive powers. It works under the general framework of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and has a unified chain of command to Brussels.
