The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) was created as an interim organization that prepares for the work of the CTBTO, which will be established once the Treaty enters into force. The task of the Preparatory Commission is to lay the groundwork required and build up the global verification regime to monitor compliance with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The CTBT bans all nuclear explosions on earth whether for military or for peaceful purposes.
