This publication evaluates how the demographic balance has changed in Ossetian-populated regions of Georgia as a result of the 2008 conflict, as well as its impact upon Georgian-Ossetian relations. The research is based on fieldwork visits to 46 villages from all regions populated by Ossetians, and assesses to what extent the 2002 census data correctly reflects the demographic picture. The author discusses Ossetian integration into society, and notes that in some districts linguistic and ethnic assimilation can be observed. He argues that as far as inter-ethnic relations are concerned, no significant changes have been observed since the war.
