This brief argues that the unrest in Syria offers the Gulf States an opportunity to weaken or even dislodge an Assad regime aligned with Iran. It, however, considers their ability to project power or shape events in Syria as being limited. Furthermore, dislike of the Assad regime does not necessarily lead to an alignment Gulf interests and long-term visions for Syria.
