Prior to the Russian parliamentary elections in 2011, Putin's transfer from prime minister to president appeared little more than a routine administrative procedure. However, major protests in Russia following the parliamentary elections have ushered in a new period of political uncertainty. As social pressure for reform mounts, the sustainability of the current economic and political system is under scrutiny. This event presented the findings of a Chatham House Report on Russia, which considers the outlook for the country beyond the elections.
