This paper analyzes the review of the so-called 'European Security Architecture' proposed by the Russian president. His idea is to negotiate a new wide-ranging pact in the form of a treaty to cover the Euro-Atlantic area. The pact should establish a new system of collective security that would do away with what are perceived by Russia as dividing lines. However the author argues that reviewing the European Security Architecture will not be easy. The idea of establishing a strategic partnership with Russia cannot hide the fact that on some important issues there is still no common vision.
