This paper argues that progress in Haiti during President Michel Martelly's first year in office was undermined by a multitude of political crises. Despite this, there is some indication that a brighter future lies ahead. However, for this to happen, the government must rectify missteps of the past and restore confidence in their actions as well as tackle the country's widespread social inequality and poverty.
