Religious peacebuilding has grown sufficiently large in recent decades that it has become a specialized sector within the field of conflict management. This report traces the history and context of this particular discipline and identifies some of the challenges it is likely to face in the future, including persistent anxieties, particularly in the West, about the less-than-sturdy relationship between religion and nonviolence.
