This brief discusses some of the causes and implications of the September 2012 Islamist riots throughout the Arab and Muslim world. It argues that the spread of the riots reflects a well-organized and pre-planned outburst, with objectives exceeding simply any rage over the film purportedly slandering the Prophet Muhammad. The author writes that the real objective is to preempt and reverse the anticipated "October Surprise" planned by the US, with the Ikhwan's target date coming in late October. The brief argues that anti-US ferment will continue to escalate and spread until the Islamist-Jihadists attain their goals.
