The Turkish white book 2000 has the objective of providing a better understanding of the National Defense Policies and the Turkish Armed Forces. The basic principle determining the national security policy of Turkey is defined by Atatürk's precept, "Peace at Home, Peace in the World". The white book takes into consideration the risks and threats for Turkey, a country located in the center of a region full of instabilities and uncertainties. It discusses international defense participation, Turkey’s national security policy, defense and military policy, civil-military cooperation, personnel and mobilization policies, defense expenditures and Turkey’s defense industry.
