To date, members of the European Union have avoided taking any painful punitive measures against Israel for its settlement policy. This paper argues that there might be a change in the EU's fundamental position given the heightened severity in recent EU declaration. The author concludes that the Israeli political leadership would do well not to assume that the EU and its member states will continue to suffice themselves with declarations. Israel would, therefore, be wise to reduce points of friction as much as possible instead of expanding them.
