The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), of which Switzerland is a member, aims to prevent exports of goods that can be misused for building nuclear weapons. In view of the proliferation of peaceful nuclear programs and the desire of nuclear-armed India to join the organization, the identity of the NSG is under discussion. The admission of India would signal a transformation of the NSG from a group dedicated to strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation norm into an association of states capable of nuclear exports.
