This paper looks at Australia's interest in Pakistan, as a separate entity from Afghanistan. To facilitate this outlook, the authors: (1) propose a new hierarchy of Australia’s interests in Pakistan and Afghanistan; (2) outline a strategy to further Australian interests in Pakistan’s stability, and (3) recommend improving community security at the local level as the best option for Australia to help shape Pakistan’s future stability.
