This brief discusses how UN Peacekeeping Operations (PKOs) can be adapted to fulfill increasingly complex and varied roles. In particular, it argues that effective peacekeeping must include expectation management, pursue enhanced partnerships, and be mission-specific in its design. It also requires reinvigorated engagement by the US and Europe, both at the UN and regional levels.
