This paper examines Lithuania's former Law on Ethnic Minorities, its termination in 2010, and the protection of minorities following the termination of the law. The author argues that this law, despite its shortcomings, provided a significant base for the protection of minorities. She goes on to say that as the current law no longer provides sufficient protection, most notably in the public use of minority languages, the previous law should be extended until new legislation can be passed.
