In this transcript, Franco Frattini, who is a likely candidate to be the next NATO Secretary General, discusses the Alliance's post-Afghanistan priorities during times of economic austerity. In particular, he describes the asymmetric and transnational security challenges the organization faces and provides his recommendations on how to deal with them. One of the latter is to refocus NATO on its core security tasks of collective defense, crisis management and cooperative security.
