This paper looks at the situation of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in the wake of its overthrow from government by the military in 2013 and the sentencing of 529 of its members to death on March 24, 2014. It suggests these developments have implications for Islamist activists around the world, who may be prompted to question the benefit of being involved in a democratic process. It also outlines a history of torture and Islamic Resistance in the Egypt, discusses the possibility of the Brotherhood's further involvement in politics, and provides recommendations on how the country can avoid further violence.
