This dual issue of the CAD describes the evolving role of online media in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The first article provides a socio-economic profile of Internet users in Georgia, which includes a comparison of their political and religious attitudes with those of non-users. The second article then investigates whether online civic activities in Georgia have actually translated into concrete actions outside of cyberspace. The next article looks at the factors that have made it possible for Armenian online media to break through the control mechanisms placed on the country's traditional news outlets. Finally, the fourth article analyzes the state of e-democracy in Azerbaijan and discusses the political use of online media, especially social networks, by the Azerbaijani government and its opponents.
