With current tensions over Ukraine firmly in mind, this analysis looks at the EU's attempts to ensure the security of its members' gas supplies. It concludes that EU member states have improved the energy infrastructure they share in common, but they haven't been able to increase the number of their suppliers. What remains missing is a coherent European policy on how to diversify energy supplies and it doesn't look like one will be appearing anytime soon. The analysis then concludes by looking at the problems this state of affairs is creating for Switzerland's energy policies and needs.
