This bulletin examines the role Australia plays in international relations and the main priorities that shape the country's foreign policy. The author contends that there are three such priorities. These include: 1) the preservation and strengthening of trade and investment markets; 2) the perpetuation of US primacy globally, but particularly in the Asia‐Pacific; and 3) the promotion of liberal‐democratic norms.
