Following domestic opposition against the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) in the Philippines, this bulletin analyzes Manila’s military cooperation with the US. The author argues that, although Manila can't completely rely on America's protection, the long-standing alliance is of crucial importance for the Philippines and its ability to meet its defense and security needs in an increasingly volatile region of the world.
