This publication discusses the post-WWII transitions in Germany and Japan. More specifically, the author highlights three factors that enabled these transitions to be successful: strong US support, genuine reconciliation efforts, and a focus on education. He argues that both countries can now play a constructive role in the international community by using their soft power and applying the lessons learned during the transition period.
