This paper analyzes whether nationalism advanced civic integration in post-Soviet Georgia. To do this, the author examines the political statements of the four presidents who held office between 1991 and the end of President Saakashivili's term in 2013. The paper also examines the extent of the success of civic integration policy toward ethnic minorities in the country and the role of state-church relations in the building of a civic state in post-Soviet Georgia.
