This paper discusses whether the surge in Chinese funding for medical research will lead the country's pharmaceutical industry to be the next game changer for global public health and access to medicine. In particular, the author concentrates on 1) the implications which the advancements of China's pharmaceutical sector could have for global health; 2) the challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry in China.
