This paper reviews the status of border security and management systems in post-Arab Spring North Africa. In particular, it describes the destabilizing activities now occurring in the borderlands of several Maghreb countries (they include human, drug, and arms smuggling) and the roles that terrorists are playing in them. The paper's author concludes that two obvious solutions to these problems are stronger cross-border security cooperation between Maghreb countries and increased information sharing among security service agencies.
