This article identifies six conclusions that can be drawn from the April 2015 framework agreement announced by Iran and the P5+1 countries over Tehran's nuclear program. They include 1) it is not clear if Iran and P5+1 countries will reach a final compromise; 2) domestic political actors in the negotiating countries still need to be convinced to agree to the deal; 3) the negotiations have led to significant international changes; 4) a major driver of the diplomatic efforts has been Iran’s nuclear advancement; 5) Iran wants sanctions relief as soon as possible; and 6) the alternatives to a negotiated agreement are highly undesirable.
