In this transcript, Lawson Naidoo, who is the Executive Secretary of the Council for the Advancement of South Africa’s Constitution (CASAC), worries about the growing possibility of a constitutional crisis within the country. The primary reason for alarm is that the South African government is increasingly tilting towards majoritarianism, which undercuts "principled constitutionalism," the government's own institutions, and the values that underlined the country's struggle against apartheid. One response to this trend could be mass protests, which could then lead to a new form of politics in South Africa.
