What’s the fallout of the reviews the UN conducted on its peace operations, peacebuilding architecture, and the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325? The authors of this “review of the reviews” highlight their common themes and the status of their recommendations, which focus on the changing nature of conflict; the importance of women to the UN’s peace and security agenda; the necessary emphasis on prevention and long-term thinking in conflict scenarios; the need to shift towards more inclusive, people-centered peacebuilding processes, and much more. Finally, the text’s authors provide their own recommendations on these issues for the current and forthcoming UN Secretary-General.
