This paper examines the situation of minorities in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY). The author examines the factors that led to the violent dissolution of the former Yugoslavia and analyzes the issues that have contributed to the deterioration of the situation for minorities in the region. The study also reviews the institutional and legislative provisions pertaining to minorities in FRY and analyzes to what extent such provisions are implemented in practice.
