This report provides information on a Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) conference that established itself as the first step toward gathering women from South Sudan for dialogue. The purpose of the conference was to provide a platform from which they could voice their priorities for a sustainable peace in their country and how they envisage the international community supporting them to this end. Main topics discussed at the conference included war and peace gender experiences, cultural norms and customary laws in Sudanese society, and women's education and empowerment.
