This paper addresses the issue of coercive prevention as a means to stopping conflicts and crises before they turn into humanitarian tragedies. The author discusses the normative, political and policy dilemmas of coercive prevention, gives a broad account of conflict prevention, and presents arguments and evidence for coercive prevention. The paper seeks to make the case for the realism of conflict prevention.
