Jeronim Perović contends that Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to enjoy high approval ratings and that in March 2018, he was re-elected without even having to present a tangible election platform. So how has Putin been able to maintain this position, despite the Russian economy chafing under Western sanctions and low oil prices? Here is Perović’s answer, and his perspective on what the focus of the ‘Putin System’ on retaining power means for necessary economic and social reform in Russia.
