This paper examines how public opinion affects domestic policymaking in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, using extensive data collected during the second Intifada. The paper discusses nature and channels of influence in domestic policy making with a focus on public opinion. Subsequently, the paper provides an in-depth overview of both sides' public sentiment with regard to conflict resolution and peacemaking options and examines the role of public opinion at crucial junctures in the conflict. The concluding section assesses the prospects for a final-status settlement and offers policy recommendations.
