This report addresses the US effort to broker an end to the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea. The paper introduces the development of the Ethiopian-Eritrean conflict, comments on diplomatic efforts to stop it and identifies lessons learned. The report argues that the Ethiopia-Eritrea case demonstrates that high-level, sustained and continuous US engagement in peacemaking in Africa can have a major positive impact.
