This report examines the nexus between conflict and AIDS in Africa. It argues that the relationship of the AIDS pandemic to violent conflict is far too complex to be expressed in simple cause-and-effect terms. The report suggests that it must be addressed in terms of how the explosion of HIV/AIDS may contribute to further instability on the continent in coming years and how violence encourages conditions favorable to the spread of the HIV virus. It concludes with policy recommendations.
