Amidst an increasingly uncertain political environment, this paper examines the future of energy and climate discourse in 2017. The text’s authors offer a number of conjectures regarding: 1) the geopolitics of oil prices; 2) the central importance of evolving European energy policy; (3) future climate aspirations; (4) the development and implementation of European and Spanish climate policy; and (5) possible opportunities that may arise as the US reduces its role in international climate talks.
