This paper discusses the growing threat of transnational organized crime. The author argues that the distribution chains of organized crime syndicates are very similar on the surface to those of legitimate businesses. He also points out that organized crime exploits both the structural change brought about by globalization and the technology which has driven globalization. The paper concludes that organized crime is a global activity and can only be fought at a global, not national, level.
