This report examines the challenges to Afghanistan's stabilization process in the country's regional context. The authors identify geopolitical rivalry and instability in Pakistan and Uzbekistan as the main challenges, but also discuss the tensions between Iran and the US, regional trade difficulties, drug trafficking and water disputes. The report provides a set of policy recommendations.
