This case study analyzes the US’ post-9/11 adjustments to its border security policies. The text specifically examines 1) who is responsible for protecting America’s borders; 2) the challenges presented by the US’ maritime boundaries and the US-Mexico/US-Canada borders; 3) the dynamics of US-Canada security cooperation; 4) the militarization and politicization of the US’ boundaries since the end of the Bush administration; 5) the future of US border security; and 6) what lessons Australia can learn from the border security situation in the US.
